Meet the winners of our $10,000 Family Holiday to the Great Barrier Reef as part of the Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken movie release – the Laver family. They will be heading off in April – but “shhh” – don’t tell the kids; it’s a surprise.
Mum Jodie said she was very excited and grateful to win but was most grateful for the life-saving swim skills her kids were learning at JUMP! Swim School Port Kennedy in Western Australia.
Sons Toby (aged 8) and Jayden (aged 5) have been taking lessons since they were around 4 years old.
“We have a pool at home, so water safety is important for us,” said Jodie.
“To know our children can swim to safely is essential to us and also our summer holidays are usually spent at the beach.”
When Jayden first started, he’d only ever swum wearing a floatation vest and didn’t put his head or face in the water.
“We started Jayden at JUMP after fantastic service from the Port Kennedy team when Toby had previously had lessons. In less than 3 months our amazing teacher Leona had Jayden swimming freestyle and duck diving for sinky toys no worries!
“Julia and the swim staff at Port Kennedy JUMP have such a kind and caring nature for each one of the families who come through the door. We didn’t think twice when looking for a swim school for our second born.”
We wish the Laver family a fantastic holiday to remember in beautiful northern Queensland.
